Hugh Joseph Gorman, 93, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Hugh was born November 12, 1932, in Timmins, Ontario, Canada, to Hugh Alfonso Gorman and Alice Bridget (Murphy) Gorman. He grew up in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood and attended St. Thomas Aquinas Grammar School. Hugh attended Fenwick High School and St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota, excelling in basketball at both.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Hugh went on to enjoy a long career in sales and marketing.Hugh was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather. Hugh was previously married to the late Carol Jean Evans, with whom he shared his beloved son, Hugh Evan Gorman, who also preceded him in death. Hugh later married Carol Chupka Gorman, and together they shared a large blended family.
Hugh was, above all, a true gentleman - kind, caring and genuinely interested in the people around him. He was remarkably engaging and possessed a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor that remained with him 93 years. His mind stayed incredibly sharp, and he could always be counted on for a clever observation, a good story, or the occasional mischievous remark that kept everyone laughing.
Hugh is survived by his wife, Carol; his stepchildren Susan, Julie, Karyn, Johnny, Michael, Mary and Peggy; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Hugh Evan; his first wife, Carol Jean Evans; his parents; and his siblings Mary Lou, Joan, Barbara and Edward.
Hugh lived a long and wonderful life, and while his family will miss him deeply, they will forever carry with them his humor, his stories, his kindness and countless memories he gave them.
