DELAVAN – Alice (McCreight) John passed away peacefully on March 9, 2017 at the age of 99. She was born in Highland Park, IL on January 15, 1918. She was the only child of David and Alice McCreight. On December 6, 1941 she married her true love, Steven John, and they were married for over 60 years. They lived in Chicago, IL but enjoyed summers and weekends in Delavan, WI. When Steve retired they moved to Delavan to live permanently. Steve predeceased Alice on December 21, 2001.
Alice will be missed by her two adoring sons, Steven (Gloria) and Michael (Betty); as well as seven grandchildren, Stephanie, David, Allison, Steven, Ryan, Barry, and Mario; and many great grandchildren. She was loved and adored by so many extended family and friends that will miss her kindness and genuine sweetness. Alice was an inspiration and encourager to everyone she met.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Ave with Pastor Raymond Swatkowski officiating. There will be a short time before the service at 10:30 A.M. for family and friends. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan following the service. A luncheon will follow at The Village Supper Club in Delavan. MONROE FUNERAL HOME in Delavan is assisting the family.
