Darien/ Arlene Wahlen, age 74 of Darien, passed away Monday, July 05, 2010 at Holton Manor Nursing Home in Elkhorn. She was born May 9, 1936 in Thorton, IL the daughter of Walter and Bernice (Torringa) Swets. She married Ronald Wheeler and then in 1986 she married Gerald Wahlen. She was a graduate of U.W. Whitewater in Special Education. Arlene was an Instructor at the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in Delavan. She was a member of the Community Church in Elkhorn.
She is survived by her husband Gerald; 2 daughters, Corinne (Chris) Sanders of Darien and Renee Schmaling of Beloit; 1 son, Trevor Wahlen; 4 grandchildren, Blake Schmaling, Christopher, Cody and Caitlin Sanders; 2 sisters, Judy (Elmer) Visscher of S.D. and Evelyn Lindberg of Delavan; 3 brothers, Walter (Bert) Swets of MI, Ed (Millie) Swets of Delavan, Harold Jr. Swets of Delavan; also nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Henry.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, July 10, 2010 at Community Church of Elkhorn. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service at the Church. Burial will be at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan. Memorials may be made to the Community Church of Elkhorn. MONROE FUNERAL HOME, Delavan, is assisting the family.
