Charles V. Zurbrugg

Charles Virgil Zurbrugg, 74, of Twin Lakes, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the VA Hospital in Madison, WI, following a brief battle against lung cancer. He was born on Sept. 23, 1936 in Battle Creek, MI, the son of Walter John and Leona Belle (Young) Zurbrugg. He graduated from Delavan High School and served in the US Army from 1957 to 1960. He traveled to many place before making his home in Twin Lakes, WI. Chuck worked in the construction field for many years, and also took time out to farm with his family. He truly enjoyed working with his hands. Every where Chuck traveled he made lifelong friends. He was a loving and generous man and would do anything for those he held dear to his heart. He had a passion for building things for family and friends, roller skating, golfing, and playing cards.

He is survived by his daughter, Ann Marie (Zurbrugg) Downing, and the true pride and joy of his life, his grandson, Ryan Charles Downing, both of Baraboo, WI; his sisters: Sonia Stawicki of Mission, TX and Margaret Udey of Janesville; his nephew, Michael (Pickles) Stawicki; and lifelong friend, Darlene Papcke; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Phyllis Nelson; and brother, Frederic Zurbrugg.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thurs. March 24, 2011 at MONROE FUNERAL HOME, Delavan, with Rev. Robert P. Rickman officiating. MONROE FUNERAL HOME in Delavan is assisting the family. Visit us online at www.monroefh.com.
