DARIEN - Cheryl Lynn (Bluhm) Kaufenberg of Darien, WI entered eternal life Tuesday, October 15, 2024. She passed peacefully at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center, surrounded by her family following a long battle with microvascular dementia.
Cheryl was born to Norman and Lillian (Kath) Bluhm on October 14, 1946 in Janesville, WI. The youngest of 3 children, Cheryl grew up to love writing and education. She was very proud to earn her Bachelor of Art and Master’s degree in Business Education and went on to become a teacher. While teaching she met her husband of 46 years, Edward. They shared a mutual love of traveling. Ed and Cheryl were married July 1, 1978 and were blessed with two sons, Sean and Dan.
Cheryl had a passion for arts and crafting. She was very good at collecting, creating, and gifting beautiful things to the people she cared for. She was skilled at quilting and cross stitch, having crafted many beautiful pieces for her loved ones and members of the community over the years. Cheryl loved music and singing, enjoying many years in Our Redeemer’s handbell choir and attending many theatrical shows in Milwaukee, the Fireside, and Door County. Cheryl enjoyed traveling and throughout her life visited 7 continents. In her later years, she developed a passion for photography. Together she and Ed enjoyed many cruises and vacations, traveling the world and photographing much of its beauty. Cheryl and Ed raised their two sons together and loved hosting many foreign exchange students over the years. Cheryl was a member of the Darien Village board for 10 years and a voice in the redesign of the Darien West Park playground and walking trail. She also loved lighthouses, having photographed and published articles pertaining to them in Door County.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Edward, son Sean (Amanda) of Cincinnati, Ohio, son Daniel (Amanda) of Plymouth, WI and six grandchildren: Spencer, Annika, Aliyah, Liam, Elizabeth, and Lincoln. She is also survived by her brother, Gerald Bluhm of Janesville, WI. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Norma Bluhm.
The family would like to thank the staff of Pine Haven, Clark County Rehab and Living Center, and Heartland Hospice notably Mary for the care and love they showed Cheryl over the past two years of her life.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 416 W. Geneva Street in Delavan. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Avenue in Delavan and from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service on Friday at the church. Private Family Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Janesville.
