Delavan/ Debra Dragel Kilkenny, age 54 of Delavan, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 15, 2010, due to a heart condition, while biking on the White River Trail near Elkhorn. She was born April 7, 1956 in Elkhorn, the daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth (Svoboda) Dragel. She married Dan Kilkenny on December 29, 1979 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Delavan. Debra was a Legal Assistant at Kilkenny Law Office in Delavan as well as an Assistant Secretary Treasure for Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan. She loved the outdoors and the complexity and interconnections of nature. She enjoyed tent camping in all four seasons, hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, and biking. She was an expert at identifying birds and plants and was always happy to share her knowledge. She was a member of the Audubon, The International Crane Foundation and other natural organizations. She was a member of the St. Andrews Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Dan of Delavan; her son, Nicholas Kilkenny of Delavan; a sister, Kathy (Patrick) Maher of Delavan; her mother, Betty Dragel of Delavan; 1 niece and nephew, Molly and Zachary Maher; also many Kilkenny's. She is preceded in death by her father, Nick.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am, Friday, May 21, 2010 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Delavan with Fr. Jim Schuerman officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Monroe Funeral Home in Delavan. Burial will be at the St. Andrews Cemetery in Delavan. Memorials may be made to the Walworth County Park Acquisition Fund or St. Andrews School. MONROE FUNERAL HOME, Delavan, is assisting the family.
