Donald Patrick O'hare, age 60, passed away March 9, 2023 in his home in Burlington, WI after a battle with cancer.
Don was born in Milwaukee, WI on March 18, 1962 to Melvin G. and Barbara (Bach) O'Hare. He lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky and Minnesota before settling in Racine, WI with his family in 1972. After serving in the Army Corps of Engineers for two years (1981-1983) he studied art at the University of Wisconsin Parkside. He had a knack for finding a good deal, and opened a store, Adventurer's Supply with his brother Michael. He worked for Schmitt Security, then was a security guard for 20 years at Aurora Hospital in Burlington, where his sense of humor and compassion made him a favorite of patients and staff.
Don married the love of his life, New Orleans native Sharon "Sherry" (Nicholson) Gagneaux on December 12, 2014. Through her son he became the beloved Pawpaw of three grandchildren.
Don is survived by wife Sherry Gagneaux of Burlington; sisters JoLynn (David) Oten and Kris (Kevin) Liesner and sister-in-law Victoria (Rondeau) O'Hare, all of Racine; and stepson Anthony James Perrin and his children Slade (7), Remy (4) and Maverick (1) of Lawrence, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Michael in 2002.
