Donna R. (Schuyler) Buchholz

DELAVAN – Donna Rae (Schuyler) Buchholz, age 76, of Delavan passed away in the morning hours of Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Donna was born February 8, 1939, a daughter of Anderson and Ila (Butler) Schuyler in Neenah, WI. At graduation in 1958 from Gillett High School in Gillett, WI, Donna received the Veteran’s Administration State Nursing Scholarship as she had a passion to pursue ensuring others received the care they needed. She attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing and then graduated from the Fond du Lac Vocational and Adult School for Practical Nurses on her birthday in 1960. She married George W. Buchholz Jr. on September 9, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church in Kingston, WI. She loved her nursing career and spent much of the 20 years working in nursing homes in Milwaukee and Clinton, WI. She was quite an artist, sewer, crafter, and enjoyed listening to classic country music and Elvis. Donna was a dedicated mother to both her children which included full time home care to her son afflicted with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Donna is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, Leigh, Augie, and Jarod Comas. Her grandson Jarod was the light of her life. Donna was preceded in death by her son, George D. Buchholz.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Ave with Rev. Robert P. Rickman officiating. Visitation will be held from NOON until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Darien Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family to create a scholarship fund in Donna’s name.
