Earl Frank Schlegel, born August 16, 1941, of Pell Lake, Wisconsin formerly of Park Forest, Illinois, passed peacefully at on Friday November 30, 2018 (age 77) in Delavan, Wisconsin.
Earl was beloved father and step father of Cynthia (Joseph) Panfil, Daniel Smith, Michele Marion and Michael (girlfriend Ginger) Schlegel, loving grandfather of Harley (Zahna) Smith, Joseph (Kara) Panfil, Heather (James) Barham, Benjamin (fiancée’ Ally) Panfil, Christopher Voss, Lucas Panfil, Robert Marion, III, Brendon Schlegel, Kaitlyn Marion and Tabitha Marion. Earl brought joy to his great grandchildren Lily and Benjamin Barham, Lilla Smith, Chloe McKinney and Kayla Panfil. Sabrina McKinney and Jasper Melton held a special place in his heart. He will also be greatly missed by friend and caregiver, Mary Larkin and ex-wife but still good friend, Mary Jo Bailey, and various cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by maternal grandmother Ida Christine Nielsen nee Jensen, his mother Tove H. Nielsen Schlegel Pickell, maternal grandfather Niels Michael Nielsen, paternal grandfather Leonhart Schlegel and paternal grandmother Johanna (Nana) Schlegel nee Marck, step-mother Genevieve (Jean) Schlegel nee Iwanski, father Frank Elmer Schlegel, and step-brother Mitchell Soro.
Earl was a graduate of Amundsen Jr. College and Amundsen High School both of Chicago, Illinois. He enjoyed card games, Chicago Cubs baseball, Chicago Bears football, jigsaw puzzles, western movies, James Bond movies, camping and travel.
Final arrangements are being provided by Monroe Funeral Home in Delevan, Wisconsin and interment of ashes will be at Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, Illinois at a future date to be later determined.
