Edward H. O'Brien, age 87 of Delavan, Wi., passed away at his home with his family by his side on Saturday, November 26, 2011. He was born April 21, 1924 in Whitewater Wi., the son of Edward and Margaret (Waldie) O'Brien. Ed married LaVerne Dibble on August 19, 1948 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Delavan. LaVerne preceded him in death on March 27, 2004. Ed was a U.S. Marine Veteran serving with the 2nd Division A-1-10 in the Pacific, as a Forward Observer in the Marianas Island Campaign. He was Chief Electrician at General Motors in Janesville for many years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Delavan. Ed loved Fishing and Hunting in northern Wisconsin and was a member of the Marine Corps League.
He is survived by his daughters; Kathleen (Don) Carmouche of La., Colleen O'Brien of Madison, Molly (Erik) Bleifield of Waukesha. His son Patrick (Jenny) O'Brien of Appleton. His grandchildren; Cristina Santi, Chelsea Emmerich, Benjamin and Bridget Bleifield, Courtney (Nick) Eccles and Michelle O'Brien, their mother, Dana O'Brien. Daughter-in-law, Linda O'Brien of Green Bay. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife LaVerne, 2 sons, Michael and Rory, 1 daughter Kerry, 2 sisters Bea and Jean.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00am Thursday December 1, 2011 at St.Andrew's Catholic Church in Delavan with Fr. Jim Schuerman officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am to service time on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at St.Andrew's Cemetery with Full Military Honors conducted by Delavan Legion Post 95. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Clifford Poplar, Christy Sullivan, Kim Morse, Lindsey Sullivan, Carla Ludowise, Shyla Mullis and Robyn Legan who all took care of him in his last years.
