Faith Elizabeth Rambow

Faith Elizabeth Austin Rambow, died September 7, 2011, at Vintage On The Ponds in Delavan, where she lived for the past 3-1/2 years. She was born November 19, 1917 in Wasco, in Kane County, Il., to Alvie and Ethyl (Hilborn) Austin. She graduated from St. Charles Community High School in June, 1935. Faith married Donald Charles Rambow on February 5, 1939, in Elgin, Il.. Donald and Faith farmed around the Elgin area until moving to Wisconsin in March, 1944. They lived on the same farm, one mile west of Walworth, since that day.

Faith was a very loving mother who devoted herself to her children and grandchildren. When her children were young, she was involved as a room mother and with the Prairie Homemakers. She spent many hours gardening and prepared delicious meals. She was an accomplished seamstress. As she grew older, she spent over a decade caring for her invalid mother-in-law and father-in-law. She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Evangelical Church in Walworth.

In later years, Faith enjoyed crossword puzzles, talking on the phone with friends and family, and clipping articles and recipes. She loved keeping track of her grandchildren's travels

She is survived by two sons, Darwin and Harold (Carolyn), of Walworth; one daughter, Darleen (Jeff) Worm, of Fond du Lac; her grandchildren, John Rambow of New York City; Beth Rambow of Chicago; and Mark Rambow of Walworth; Emily Worm of Boston; and Rachel Worm of Fond du Lac. Several nieces and nephews; one special first cousin, Dorothy (Raymond) Russell of Elgin, Il. and godchild Linda Zimmerman, of Elgin, Il. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, on February 24, 2000; her sisters, Virginia Chapman and Irene Ramer; and one brother, Roy Austin.

Services, which were private at her request, were held Monday, September 12, at Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon Wi. Memorials may be sent to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church; 420 Read St. Walworth, Wi. 53184. MONROE FUNERAL HOMEin Delavan, Wi. assisted the family.
