DARIEN - Florentina Cruz, age 93, of Darien passed away at her residence on Thursday, November 5, 2026. Florentina was born on June 20, 1933 in Texas to Regino and Gregoria Palacios. She married Roberto Cruz on May 3, 1953 in Laredo, Texas. Roberto passed away on January 21, 2024. Florentina was a longtime member of St. Andrews Catholic Church. Florentina worked for 30 years at Birds Eye in Darien before retiring.
She is survived by her children Robert Luis Cruz Jr and Norma (Julian Ibarra) Cruz, grandchildren Veronica (Oscar) Delgado, Alma Gonzalez, Hector F (LaDondra) Gonzalez, Jr, Tiffany Cruz, Brittany (Tricia) Albert, Humberto (Vanessa) Colunga, Elva Cruz and Ricky Colunga; Great Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends.
Florentina is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roberto; daughter Lydia Esmeralda; grandsons, Pedro A. Gonzalez and Juan C. Gonzalez; and son-in-law Hector Gonzalez.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 12, 2026 at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 714 E. Walworth Avenue in Delavan. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will take place at Darien Cemetery.
