LAKE GENEVA – George Friesema, age 89, of Lake Geneva passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn. He was born and raised on a farm near Franksville, a village near Racine. George was a member of the Christian Reform Church for 66 years. He was married to Laverne (Logterman) Friesema for 66 years. They moved to this area shortly after they wed and have been farming here since. George was currently in a partnership with his son Robert and they raise beef cattle and farm about 100 acres. George did custom farming at one time up to 1200 acres. After cutting back on custom farming he also sold seed corn, Baldwin filters for cars and trucks, and motor oil.
George is survived by his wife, Laverne Friesema, of Lake Geneva; three children, Ruth (Dean) Risseeuw, of Darien, Barbara (Clyde) Brumfield, of Delavan, and Robert (Pamela) Friesema, of Lake Geneva; three grandchildren, Jeff (Kathy) Risseeuw, Philip (Maki) Olson, and Eric (Nicole) Olson; four great grandchildren, Ben, Megan, Tristen, and Isabelle; two brothers, Gerhardt Friesema, of Lansing, IL, and Jacob (Janice) Friesema, of Delavan; two sisters, Elizabeth (Peter) Hiemstra, of Delavan, and Margaret (Ted) Ham, of Lansing, IL; and many nieces and nephews. George is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Bertha; his brothers, John and wife Lena, and Gilbert; five brother-in-laws, and six sister-in-laws, and his mother and father in law.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Delavan Christian Reformed Church, 850 Oak Street. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Ave and an hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan. Memorials can be directed to the Delavan Christian School.
