DELAVAN – Gertrude (Schlicher) Lewandowski age 92, of Delavan passed away at RidgeStone Village on Wednesday August 26th. She was born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin on November 17, 1922 to Margaret and Jacob Kolb. Gert was united in marriage to William Schlicher in Beaver Dam. William passed away on July 4, 1986. She later married Sigmund (Ziggy) Lewandowski. Gert worked for several years at the Walworth County Social Service Center and for Borg Fabrics in prior years. She worked in the accounting and finance department at both companies. After retiring, she enjoyed volunteering and loved to play bridge with family and friends. She often helped out at floral shops owned by her sister Ruth Ebert and another owned by her brother Edward Kolb.
Gert is survived by three of her children, Ellen (Jim) Conn of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Joe (Patty) Schlicher of Delavan, and Jake (Erin) Schlicher of Williamsburg, Virginia. Gert was preceded in death by her oldest son Thomas Schlicher. She has seven grandchildren, Maleia Good, Maili Peters, Chris Schlicher, Travis Schlicher, Nicholas Schlicher, Kristyn Schlicher, and Kelly Schlicher. She had five great grandchildren, Thomas and Kayla Peters, Mary Good, Cole and Casey Schlicher. Gert is preceded in death by her Parents, and all 6 of her siblings.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 714 E. Walworth Ave on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 with visitation from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. A service will follow at 10:30 A.M. with a funeral procession taking her to her final resting place at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Memorials can be directed to Aurora VNA Hospice.
