ELKHORN – Gilbert F. Perez II, age 63, of Elkhorn, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Gilbert was born on June 3, 1962, in Ohio, the son of Gilbert F. Perez and Juanita (Obregon) Perez. He grew up in Fremont, Ohio, where he spent his early years before relocating to Wisconsin in the 1990s, where he later made his home. On November 10, 2006, he was united in marriage to Stella Bloch, with whom he shared a loving life together.
Gilbert found great joy in life on his hobby farm, where he enjoyed raising animals. Over the years, he raised horses including Clydesdales and wild mustangs, and also had a mule named Charlie that he loved dearly. He had a deep love for animals of all kinds, particularly his beloved dogs. He shared a special bond with his German Shepherd, Regina, whose kind-hearted and gentle soul meant the world to him. Gilbert also loved cooking and often found happiness in preparing meals for family and friends.
In his younger years, Gilbert played the trombone in his middle school and high school bands, a passion that reflected his appreciation for music. He was also active in pool and dart leagues, where he built lasting friendships. Gilbert never knew a stranger — he spoke kindly to everyone he met, everywhere he went, and made many friends along the way through his warmth and genuinely kind nature.
Gilbert is survived by his wife, Stella; his children, Eric Perez of Ohio, Jeannette (Evan Graf) Gonzalez of Darien, Brittney (Chris Tullis) Perez of Ohio, Peter (Brittaney) Gonzalez of Delavan, and Andrew Gonzalez of Elkhorn; his mother, Juanita Patton of Ohio; his sisters, Gloria (Rodney) Lucio of Alabama and Esther (Jimmy) Shroyer of Ohio; and his ten grandchildren, Logan Hinkle, Isaac Burnett, Olivia Burnett, Ruben Perez, Mariana Perez, Boston Tullis, Stella Gonzalez, Hazel Gonzalez, Iris Gonzalez, and Evelyn Gonzalez; along with many aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert F. Perez, and his stepfather, John Patton, and Grandparents Tomas Obregon, and Petra Obregon, and his Aunt Mary Lopez, and Uncle Tomas Obregon II.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 714 E. Walworth Avenue, Delavan. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Avenue in Delavan and again one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Phillips Cemetery in Allens Grove.
