DELAVAN – Harold Jacob Los, 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Creamery Creek Assisted Living in Viroqua, WI. He was born June 11, 1941 in Avon, SD to Jacob and Alice (Mensonides) Los, the 2nd of 7 children. Harold was a student at the Delavan Christian School up to 8th grade. He continued his education at Delavan-Darien High School. Harold was united in marriage to the love of his life, Roselyn Marie Alsum on December 8, 1961. Harold and Rose raised 3 boys, Larry, Robert, and Elliot.
He began his career as a mason working with the Brick Layers Union where he worked on the dorms and buildings of UW-Whitewater. Harold then worked for Gerald Blakely Masonry. It was there he learned the art of building stone fireplaces and many custom stone homes. Harold worked in the Lake Geneva area building many prominent homes on the lake. He started his own business with his partner, Al Bultman (Bultman and Los Construction). Harold and Al worked on many homes around the area including, Stone Manor, Griffith Estates, and the late William J. Bell Estate. He enjoyed donation his time and talent to many churches for their building needs.
Harold enjoyed softball and helped with Little League while his sons were involved. He was a cadet leader, a deacon, and an elder at the Delavan Christian Reformed Church. He also enjoyed attending his nephew’s basketball games in Randolph. Harold loved hunting, fishing, spending many years in the Westboro and Spirit Lake area. He cherished time with family and the outdoors. He also “lapped up” time at the race tracks by helping his sons and reminiscing with all the great competitors of the sport! When Rose and Harold retired, they lived in Spirit Lake, WI spending time fishing and loving time with the grandkids and other family.
Harold is survived by his sons, Larry (Julie) Los and Elliott (Monica) Los; grandchildren, Jenna Los, Lauren (Grant) Hansen, Kyra (Damion) Lee, Alana (Spencer) Hanson, and Rafaela Los; great grandchildren, Beau, Decklynn, Kenzie Hansen, and Lucia Lee; sisters, Sylvia Greenfield, Jan (Drake) Los, Lois Lindholm, and Ruth Kravenas; brother, Melvin (Julie Baumgartner) Los; brother-in-law, Dave Smale; along with many nieces and nephews.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Alice Los; wife, Roselynn; son, Robert Los; brother, Francis Los; brother-in-laws, Russell Lindholm and Arnie Baker; and sister-in-laws, Carol Los and Joyce Los.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Delavan Christian Reformed Church 850 Oak Street in Delavan. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the funeral on Tuesday at the church. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Lake Geneva. The family wishes to thank Laurie from St. Croix Hospice and the many staff at Creamery Creek for all that they did for Harold.
