DELAVAN – Janis Marie Scherer, age 64, of Delavan passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. She was born January 2, 1953 in San Antonio, TX to Robert and Charlotte (Leone) Rondeau. Janis proudly served in the U.S. Navy and Air Force. She was united in marriage to John C. Scherer on July 6, 1981. She was a longtime member of Delavan Christian Reformed Church. Janis loved photography, playing piano, hiking, and spending time with her family. She and her family lived in 11 different states during their military career.
Janis is survived by her husband of 36 years, John; three children, John Robert Scherer, of Vienna, VA, Lt. Andrew Jeffery Scherer, of Jacksonville, FL, and Anne Marie (Travis) Jamieson, of Grand Rapids, MI; a granddaughter, Cecilia Leone Rondeau Jamieson; and a sister, Ann Rondeau, of Wheaton, IL.
Janis is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Delavan Christian Reformed Church, 850 Oak Street in Delavan with Rev. Tim Kooiman officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Ave in Delavan and from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan. Memorials can be directed to the Moody Bible Institute Music Department in Chicago.
