Joseph Andrew Almburg Sr. sailed off on his final pontoon ride shortly after sunrise on May 15, 2025, at the age of 88. He arrived in heaven to his two sons awaiting his voyage home, with them and the Heavenly Father greeting him with open arms.
Joe was born in Dekalb, Illinois to Blanche and Ludvick Almburg on February 17, 1937. He was the youngest of five children; his siblings, Mary, Fred, Lois and John, all preceded him in death.
During his life, Joe always enjoyed wood/metal working, craftsmanship, and fixing of any kind. He never missed an event, as long as he could attend (auctions, sporting events, award ceremonies, school events, etc.) no miles separated his support for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joe found value in every single item he saw, and every single person he met. There wasn't an item that was of no value to him. If it cost something, at some point, and you tried to get rid of it, Joe gave it a home. The same could be said for any person he's met; his heart was always home for many people. He never hesitated to welcome you with a smile, a hug, or a beer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 and a half years, Phyllis Almburg; his grandchildren, Joselyn, Joseph III (Cassidy), Emma, Owen; his great-grandchildren, Cora, Josie, Journi, and Baby Almburg to be in October; his daughter in law, Lynn Almburg; his nephew and wife, Steve and Anne Almburg; along with more family and friends than could fit on this page.
He is welcomed home by his beloved sons, Joseph Jr. and Mark Almburg; his parents, and his siblings.
A funeral service will be held at Delavan United Methodist Church, 213 S 2nd St, Delavan, WI 53115, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. with visitation beginning at 12 P.M. Refreshments will follow the church service in the fellowship hall from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
“It’s just one thing after another.”
~Joe Almburg
