Joseph J. Walters, age 87 of Delavan, Wi. passed away Saturday March 2, 2013 at St. Lukes Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wi. He was born March 10, 1925 in Elkhorn, Wi., the son of Joseph and Anna (Greene) Walters. Joe was united in marriage to Zane Johannesen on May 22, 1946 at Christ Episcopal Church in Delavan. Joe attended the Elkhorn School System, lettering in the major sports during High School. He enlisted in Naval Flight School in March of 1943 and was discharged when W.W.II was ended. Then after graduating the University of Wisconsin, he began working for Travelers Insurance Co. in Milwaukee. He then became President of Johannesen-Farrar Insurance Co. in Delavan from 1968 to 1997. Currently, he was serving as Chairman of the Board at Johannesen-Farrar Insurance Co. He was very active in many Insurance Organizations. Served on the Board for the Wisconsin State Bank. Active member at Christ Episcopal Church in Delavan, serving as a Treasurer and a Vestry member for 10 years. Was on the Delbrook Golf Commission. A member of the American Legion Post 95 in Delavan. He helped start the Little League Baseball program in Delavan and was a member of the Delavan Development Corporation. He was an avid golfer, scoring a double eagle on the old number 13 at Delbrook Golf Course. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Zane of Delavan, Wi. His daughter, Zane (Dan) Walters-Schulz of Delavan, Wi. His 2 sons; J. Fritz (Donna) Walters of Delavan, Wi. and Robert Walters of San Francisco, Ca. 3 grandchildren; Joseph and twins Ross and Mahrinna. His great-grandchild Donovin. 1 niece, Sandi Davison. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Arvid.
Memorial Services will be 11:00am Thursday March 7, 2013 at Christ Episcopal Church in Delavan, Wi. Visitation will be from 10:00am to service time on Thursday at the church.
