DELAVAN - Joyce K. Kok, age 80, of Delavan passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn.

Joyce was born on August 26, 1940 in Baldwin, WI beloved daughter to John Bol and Mabel Bol (Bosman). Raised in the country, Joyce spent her childhood on the family farm and attended Tar Creek school. She was a graduate of Baldwin High School in 1958.

Throughout her life of faith, Joyce lived by the “joy” in her name, taking delight in the Lord’s creation. She taught by example how to seek joy in all things big and small. Joyce was a collector of birdhouses, and especially loved cardinals. She had the voice of a songbird herself, and met the love of her life, Roger Kok, while singing in the church choir. They were married in June of 1960 at Baldwin Reformed Church.

As a longtime member of Delavan Christian Reformed Church, Joyce also served with Roger as custodians of their church for many years. She worked at Inspiration Bookstore in Walworth, WI for many years and became manager at the end of her tenure. She also served as Roger’s secretary while he was principal at Delavan Christian School.

Joyce was a selfless homemaker and devoted herself to her family, always cherishing time spent with her children and grandchildren. Joyce had a strong faith in the Lord and encouraged her family to seek the Lord in all circumstances. She will be missed by so many and remembered as a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 60 years, Roger, of Delavan; her sister Lorraine (Deryl) Alwin; her three sons, William (Cheryl) Kok, Dan (Jenny) Kok, and Jon Kok; her sisters-in-law Esther VantHoff and Marlene Hughes; her grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Jared, David, Ethan, and Caleb; and her many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel (Lesley) Rens, Marlys (Lester) Rens, and Sylvia (Van) Van Someren; her brother and sister-in-law, Seymour and Junice Kok; her brothers-in-law, Howard VantHoff and Don Hughes; and her grandson, Nathanael, taken too soon.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Delavan Christian Reformed Church, 850 Oak Street in Delavan. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
