It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laurie Ann "Lola" Ely, who departed this world far too soon on July 26, 2025, at the House of Dove in Marshfield, Wisconsin, after a courageous battle with angiosarcoma cancer. She was born on June 7, 1992, in Berwyn, Illinois, to Neil Andrew Ely and Nancy Ann D’Amico, who survive her.
Lola was a vibrant spirit, an adventurous soul whose laughter and zest for life radiated warmth wherever she went. Her life was filled with joy, humor, and a unique charm that made her unforgettable. Those who were lucky enough to know her remember her as a "sour patch kid," always ready to share a laugh or a funny picture that would brighten the day.
A proud graduate of Delavan-Darien High School, Lola embraced life and wore her heart on her sleeve. She dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom, cherishing every moment spent with her three beloved sons, Colton Viveros, Ethan Rice, and Rohan Eisner. She often emphasized the importance of family, demonstrating that it truly takes a tribe to raise children. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own children; she loved her nieces and nephews dearly and made a special effort to give each of them a nickname, creating bonds that would last a lifetime.
Lola was a true force of nature. Known for her vibrant voice that could be heard from miles away, she had a knack for making a grand entrance wherever she went. Her striking red lips and colorful hair were as bold as her personality. Many will remember her singing and vibing to good music, a testament to her lively spirit and love for life's simple pleasures.
Laurie is preceded in death by her beloved father, Neil Andrew Ely, her sister Andrea Ely, her Nonno Carmen D’Amico, Nonna Amelia Jean (Molly) D’Amico, and her cherished niece, Leiana. Despite the heartache of her passing, she leaves behind a loving family that includes her mother, Nancy D’Amico; Father Figure Carl Hines; her foster mother, Teresa Selph; her brothers, Jeffrey (Samantha) Malinek, Tony Malinek, James Ely, and Jason Hines; her sisters, Jodi (Dustin) Krause and Nicole Hines; as well as her precious sons, numerous nieces and nephews—including Cora, Leland, Laken, Evei, Enzo, Rainey, Payton, Lexi, Raven, Sierra, Cody, Kalli, Desi, and Paul Jr.—who will all carry her spirit in their hearts.
A private funeral service will be held to honor Lola's life, reflecting her desire for intimacy and connection with her loved ones during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to her mother Nancy D'Amico at 1461 S Biron Dr, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494, and/or to her brother Jeffrey Malinek at 527 S Autumn Dr, Apt 207, Delavan, WI 53115.
Lola, you will be deeply missed, but your legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will forever remain in the hearts of those you touched. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the love. Until we meet again, may your spirit soar free.
