DELAVAN – Lily D. Metcalf, age 93, of Delavan passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn. She was born in Spechts Ferry, IA on August 4, 1922, the daughter of Henry and Margaret (Occola) Schlung. Lily married Harold Metcalf in February 8, 1941 in Dubuque, IA. Harold preceded her in death in 1996. After retiring from Andies Candies, Lily volunteered for READS program at Phoenix Middle School and for Telecare at the Delavan Police Station. Lily is survived by her three sons, Ralph, Vernon, and Rodney (Debbie) Metcalf, of Delavan; two daughters, Sigma (Ronald) Surmac, of Delavan, and Cindy Chamberlin of Milwaukee; five grandchildren, Michael Metcalf, Todd (Susan) Metcalf, Pamela (Brian) Breuer, Steven Metcalf, and Tracy (Kenneth) Collins; nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Rose Smith, of FL, Myrtle Scanlon, of Lyons, WI, and Ramona (Warren) Huftill, of CA; a sister-in-law, Lavon Schlung, of TX; and many nieces and nephews. Lily is preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; five brothers; and three sisters.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Ave in Delavan. Visitation will be held from 1:30 P.M. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Lily’s family.
