EAST TROY – Mary Ellen “Maya” Murphy, age 89, of East Troy passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Aurora Medical Center in Summit. She was born on March 26, 1929 to Lloyd and Ellen (Branstad) Cottrell. Maya was united in marriage to William Murphy on December 22, 1952. She was a dietician for Waukesha County and also taught at MATC. Maya belonged to the Lake Beulah Yacht Club and served as President of Sidestays.
Maya is survived by her husband of 67 years, William; two daughters, Susan Murphy, of Delavan, and Lynn Welscher, of Waukesha; two sons, John (Richard Garduno) Murphy, of Milwaukee, and Michael (Heather) Murphy, of Aspen, CO; six grandchildren, Robert, Anne, Patrick, Katie, John, and Bridget; a sister-in-law, Ann; and a brother-in-law, Robert.
Maya is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Michael and John; and a son-in-law, Robert.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Ave in Delavan. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
