Mary Gene Alder, age 92 of Delavan, WI, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at her home in Delavan, WI. She was born on April 20, 1921 in Fontana, WI. The daughter of Eugene and Clara (Robinson) Sullivan. Mary Gene was united in marriage to George W. Alder on September 16, 1947 in Sharon, WI. George preceded Mary Gene in death on February 27, 2010. She was a 1943 graduate of University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Mary Gene taught at Elkhorn High School for several years and was a homemaker. Mary Gene was a founding member of Delavan Service League, St. Andrew's School Board, and Family Motor Coach Assn. She is survived by her four daughters; Mary Lynn (Jim) Hodshire of Downers Grove, IL, JoAnne (Tim) Tully of Delavan, WI, Debra (Jeff Scherer) Alder of Delavan, WI, and Julie Supernaw of Delavan, WI, one son, John Alder of Delavan, WI, fifteen grandchildren; Emily and Sarah Hodshire, Chris (Erin), Amy (Brian) Eriksson, Kathleen, and Kevin Tully, Molly (Matt) Polyock, Jack, Jenny, and Joey Scherer, Jeffery, Kelly, and Danny Supernaw, and Sam and Mike Alder, and four great-grandchildren, Sam, Claire, and William Polyock, and Emma Tully. Mary Gene was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Clara Sullivan, her husband, George W. Alder, her brothers, Clifford and Lester Sullivan, and sister, Helen Sullivan Pett.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Delavan, WI, with Father Jim Schuerman officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30am until time of service at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Interment will follow funeral services on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery in Delavan, WI. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew's School.
