Merceda VanderVeen, age 89, of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Ridgestone Village in Delavan, WI. She was born on September 26, 1923, the daughter of Edmund and Lenora (Bergner) Thomsen. Merceda was joined in marriage to Howard VanderVeen on March 13, 1948, in Delavan, WI. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1998. She was a home maker and a member of the Christian Reform Church in Delavan. She is survived by her son, Curtis (Libbie) VanderVeen of Elkhorn, WI; 5 grandchildren, Amanda and John Amsler, Becky Stallings, Brad VanderVeen, and Gregg VanderVeen; 3 great grandchildren, Skylar, Daschel, and Harper; 2 sisters-in-law, Bernice DeWeerd and Pauline Thompson; many nieces and nephews. Merceda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard; 1 daughter, Shari; 3 sisters, Isabelle, Alyce, and Lillian; and 2 brothers, Edward and Edmund.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am, on Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Christian Reformed Church in Delavan, WI, with Rev. Dan Rueda officiating.
