ELKHORN – Rev. Leslie A. Weerts, age 76, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, November 23, 2018 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.  Les was born in St. Louis on November 12, 1942 to Edgar and Emma (Hoffman) Weerts.  He was ordained as a pastor of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in 1968 and was called to serve over the years at the congregations of St. John in Laona and Townsend, WI; St. Paul in Luxemburg, WI; St. Matthew in Eau Claire, WI; Faith Lutheran in Hot Springs Village, AR; and Our Redeemer in Delavan, WI.  He touched countless lives and continued his ministry until the end serving as assistant chaplain in the nursing home where he resided, even baptizing one the staff members there.        

Leslie is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Donna; two sons, Mark (Christine) Weerts, of Delavan, and David (Rhoda) Weerts, of St. Louis Park, MN; a daughter, Lynn (Nate) Cox, of Menomonee Falls; eight grandchildren, Zachary, Natalie, Ella, Caden, Jocelyn, Ben, Aaron, and Haritha; two sisters, Joy (Barry) Gostchock and Joan (Arno) Wolfgramm; brother-in-law, Gary (Theresa) Smith; and numerous other family and friends. 

Leslie is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 416 W. Geneva Street in Delavan.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church.  A Private Family Burial will take place at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
