DELAVAN - Ron Markwell was born January 29, 1936, at home in Island, KY. He started kindergarten in Detroit, Michigan; graduated from Central City High School, Central City, KY in 1954. He died Nov. 1, 2017, in hospice in Delavan, WI.

Music & singing had always been important in his life.  He sang in the Chicago, IL Symphony Chorus, Savoyaires of the North Shore; and the Elkhorn, WI Symphony Chorus. He & his brother, Don, sang in the Western choir and State St. Methodist Church, Bowling Green, KY.

Ron received his MA and BA from Western KY. University, Bowling Green, KY. His teaching career began in 1958 in Sacramento and Owensboro, KY., and he retired in 1991 from Evanston Township High School, Evanston, IL.

His second career was co-owner of Allyn Mansion Bed & Breakfast in Delavan, WI. (1987-2007). The Allyn Mansion, purchased in 1984, was renovated to reflect its historical significance after 8 years of renovation to return it to its original glory. It received numerous awards including the Grand Prize in the National Trust Great American Home Award in 1993.

Ron is survived by his sons: Howard (Nicole) of Portland, Oregon; Scott (Kirsten) of Skokie, IL; Grandchildren: Logan, Taylor, Acadia, Genevieve, Jack; nephews: D. G., Brent, Roger and Greg of Montgomery, AL; and cousins; former-wife, Francine; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Taylor and Elva Markwell; a twin-brother, Don; and partner, Joe Johnson.

A Celebration of Life will be at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Allyn Mansion, 511 E. Walworth Ave. in Delavan.
