Sally Mick Johnson

Sally Mick Johnson, 89, died on January 20, 2016, in Oconto, Wisconsin, surrounded by her family, after a short illness. Sally was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on October 21, 1926, to Richard and Francis Smelter. She attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and received her Master’s Degree in speech pathology from the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she met her husband, Roger M. Mick, who has predeceased Sally. Roger and Sally made their permanent home in Palatine, Illinois, where they raised two children. Following her retirement from the Palatine Public School District, Sally taught for two years in Germany before relocating her residence to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, where she married Arthur L. Johnson of Delavan, Wisconsin. Following Arthur’s death, Sally relocated to Oconto, Wisconsin, to reside near her family. Sally enjoyed a wonderful, long life traveling around the world and making many friends in her travels. Sally is survived by her children Jane E. Raissle (Kailua, Oahu, HI) and John R. (Cheryl) Mick (Oconto, WI), two grandchildren, David Raissle and Katherine Raissle, and two step-grandchildren, Brendan C. Welsh and Erin E. Welsh. A memorial service will be held for Sally on Monday, March 21, 2016, at Unitarian Universalist Church of the Lakes, 319 N. Broad St., Elkhorn, WI at 11:00 a.m.
