On May 11, 2021 Thomas Jon Glendenning 75, of Darien WI passed away after a 3 week battle with COVID Pneumonia and other health complications. Tom was in the care of Beloit Memorial Hospital and was not in pain or distress when he passed. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Janine (Butts) Glendenning, his Daughter Lynn (44) two sons Mike (46) and Will (40), Grandchildren Abby, Caleb, and Lucas. His Brother Jack and Sisters Debbie, Jaqueline, and Phyllis. Many Nieces and Nephews that he dearly loved and his Glendenning cousins Elaine, John, James, and Paul. He is recently preceded in death by his cousin Charles Glendenning. Tom’s life was defined by his trucking career that spanned over 50 years, after serving in the Army for two years during the Vietnam era (Dad was fortunate enough to be stationed in Germany) he came home and began driving dump trucks, grain trucks, and milk trucks around Wisconsin until 1972 when the opportunity arose to go over the road hauling tractors for Warren Transport all over the country. Dad bought his first truck with the help of his new bride and became a successful owner operator from then on. This trucking career also led to a lifelong friendship and business partnership with Lowell and Judy Gause also of Darien. Known around town for his love of all things brown Dad’s trucks were always top of the line and usually two tone brown. Dad married his loving wife on May 22, 1971. Jan was his life long partner, supporter and worked in their family business with him. Tom will be interred in a small country cemetery over looking the rolling hills of eastern Oklahoma, a beautiful part of America that he came to love and appreciate later in life. Tom who was also known for his tropical shirts and turquoise jewelry will be greatly missed and remembered fondly for his jovial laugh, great sense of humor and intelligent conversation. We would like to thank all of the medical staff at Beloit Memorial Hospital who provided such excellent and compassionate care for Tom and did everything possible for him.
A Public Gathering will be held starting at 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the Darien American Legion Hall, 24 Market Street in Darien, WI.
