DARIEN – Violet R. Wenzel, age 96, of Darien passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at home. She was born on October 15, 1928 in Jackson, WI to Jerry and Josephine (Lukas) Cervenka. Violet was united in marriage to Robert Wenzel on June 3, 1950 in Darien. Robert passed away on June 8, 2019. Violet was a waitress at Millie’s for 25 years. She loved birds, especially hummingbirds. She also enjoyed cooking and baking and would make 22 different kinds of cookies for Christmas. Violet was a member of Triune Lutheran Church for many years.
Violet is survived by her two daughters, Sue Wenzel-Youngquist, of Palatine, IL, Mary Beth (Alan) Chapman, of Milton, WI; three sons, Jim Wenzel, of Sun City West, AZ, Mark (Linda) Wenzel, of Darien, Steve (Jody) Wenzel, of Janesville; six grandchildren, Kevin, David, Daniel, Michael, Michelle, and Jonathon; and nine great grandchildren.
Violet is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; a sister, Mildred (Doug) Bowman; a brother, Jerry (Dorothy) Cervenka, and a daughter-in-law, Kerry.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Avenue in Delavan with Pastor Chuck Cervenka officiating. Visitation will held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Darien Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
