LAKE GENEVA/DELAVAN – John M. Clair, age 55, longtime Delavan attorney and former FBI agent passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016, at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford, IL. He was born on October 18, 1961, in Chicago to J. Edward and Patricia (Dwyer) Clair. John was an attorney for many years at the family practice, Clair Law Offices, in Delavan. He was a graduate of St. Andrew Parish School, Delavan-Darien High School, and undergraduate and law school graduate of Marquette University. John was a past President of Walworth County Bar Association and past Commodore of Delavan Lake Yacht Club.
John is survived by his father, J. Edward Clair, of Delavan; sisters, Catherine (Christopher) Scherer, of Muskego, WI, and Kerry (Kevin) Barry, of Whitefish Bay, WI; brother, Edward (Renee) Clair, of Williams Bay; and nieces and nephews, Madeline, Eddie, and Sophia Scherer, Bridget, John, and Colleen Barry, and Emmett, Anna, Maggie, and Finn Clair.
John is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Clair, in 2008; and a nephew, Christopher Michael Scherer Jr., in 2005.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 714 E. Walworth Avenue in Delavan. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Ave in Delavan. A Private Family Burial will take place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Delavan. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Andrew’s Parish School in John’s name.
