DELAVAN – Marilyn K. Alberts, age 73, of Delavan passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Post Acute Specialty Hospital in Milwaukee. She was born in Baraboo, WI on May 12, 1943 to Richard and Florence (Jahn) Romelfanger. She was baptized on June 1, 1943 and confirmed on April 14, 1957. She graduated from UW – LaCrosse in 1965. Marilyn was united in marriage to William Alberts on May 21, 1966 in Baraboo at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Marilyn was a dedicated teacher for many years. She taught in LaCrosse, WI, Carpentersville, IL and Clinton, WI before settling in Delavan at Wileman School. She retired after 25 years of teaching in Delavan. After retiring she was able to continue educating children at Jacobson’s Apple Barn. Marilyn was active at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Delavan. She also enjoyed being an election poll worker.
Marilyn was a loving and proud mother and grandmother. She enjoyed every trip to Ripon WI and other cities in the Midwest following her sons’ basketball teams. She was a loyal coach’s wife. She also took advantage of every opportunity possible to watch her grandkids play volleyball, basketball, dance, soccer and tennis.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 50 years, William; two sons, Brad (Kate) Alberts, of Southlake, TX, and Brent (Cari) Alberts, of Fontana; and three grandchildren, Annabelle, Marco, and Grace. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 416 W. Geneva Street in Delavan with Rev. Robert P. Rickman officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Monday at the church. Memorials can be directed to the American Cancer Society or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with School.
