MADISON- Gladys Stella (Schlagenhauf) Meier, 95, Madison, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 at Oakwood Village in Madison.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2116 Hollister Ave in Madison with Fr. Thomas Saucier officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.

Gladys was born March 7, 1920, in rural Helenville, WI, the daughter of Gilbert and Stella (Hachtel) Schlagenhauf. She graduated as Valedictorian from Jefferson High School, Jefferson, WI, in 1936, and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1941. She married Frederick J. (Felix) Meier of Muscoda on Jan. 29, 1944, in Austin, TX. He died on June 13, 1960, in Middleton, WI.

After teaching for several years, she started working for the UW Extension in 1946. She worked in student admissions for the University of Wisconsin and became the Registrar for the UW Centers when it began in 1964.   She was employed by the University of Wisconsin for 39 years retiring in 1985.  Gladys was very active at Blessed Sacrament Parish, Madison, volunteered at the Governors Mansion and Madison Public Library, and was a member and supporter of the Olbrich Botanical Society and the UW-Madison Alumni Association. She had resided at Oakwood Village since 1998.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Dianne Tauscher, Auburndale; James (Kathleen) Doebereiner, Marshfield; Mary (Kenneth) Rapp, Kaukauna;  William Bubolz, Texas; Frederick (Khemika) Bubolz, Appleton; and Steven (Heather) Bubolz, Eau Claire; and many great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister, Pearl (Schlagenhauf) Bubolz.
