DELAVAN – Carol “Helen” Carlson, age 86, of Delavan passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn. She was born June 16, 1928 in the town of Lyndon in Juneau County, WI to Cameron and Emma (Hellsten) Utter. Her early education was in a one room school near the family farm. Her parents moved to Wisconsin Dells where she graduated from High School in 1945. After attending Milwaukee Business Institute for a short period, Helen returned to the Dells and later relocated in Delavan and was employed at Lake Lawn Lodge where she met and married Emory Carlson. In September 1966, they purchased Hugo’s Resort and renamed it Harbor Inn and operated it for the next 33 years before retiring to their farm. Helen enjoyed the outdoors and doting on the grandkids. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, AARP, DLIA, and served as secretary of the Walworth County Tavern League for several years and was a past director of the Tavern League of Wisconsin.

Helen is survived by her husband, Emory; two sons, William (Marcia) Carlson, and Robert (Mary) Carlson; four grandsons, Steve, Kris, Brad, and Ben; and several nieces and nephews. Helen is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; six brothers; and a granddaughter, Lindsey Carol.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 15, 2015 at Christ Episcopal Church of Delavan, 503 E. Walworth Ave.  Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M. at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Ave. on Sunday, June 14, 2015 and an hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Burial will take place at East Delavan Union Cemetery in Delavan. Memorials can be directed to the Christ Episcopal Church Building Fund.
