DELAVAN – Carole Joan Hessner, age 82, of Delavan passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa. She was born in Dodgeville, WI on November 8, 1939 to Harold and Dorothy (Reichling) Pittz. Carole was united in marriage to Dennis John Hessner in Milwaukee, WI on February 17, 1962. Carole was a dedicated student graduating with honors from both Dodgeville High School in 1957 and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1961. After completion of her bachelor degree, Carole worked as a teacher in Rockford IL and Delavan WI, as well as an author of children’s stories. In addition to her passion for working with children, she was an avid reader and an outstanding gardener.
Carole was a devoted wife, a caring and dedicated mother, and an amazing and affectionate grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Dennis; three sons, Martin (Susan) Hessner, of Brookfield WI; Karl Hessner, of Menomonee Falls, WI, and Anton Hessner, of Wauwatosa WI; grandchildren Elizabeth Hessner and Anna Hessner; and siblings Mary (Robert) Kratochwill of Dodgeville, WI and Myrna (Paul) Thuli of Lancaster, WI.
Carole is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Erich Hessner; and her sister Janet Hess.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Ave in Delavan. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan.
