DELAVAN – Harold R. Shortenhaus, age 70, of Delavan passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. He was born in Buffalo Center, IA on October 18, 1945 to Harry and Gladys (Kuiper) Shortenhaus. Harold was united in marriage to Karen Boyer on April 4, 1969 in Beloit. He was an attorney for many years and belonged to the WI State Bar Association. Harold served on the Delavan City Council, the Christian League for the Handicapped, was a municipal judge in Delavan for 3 years, and was a board member of Walcomet.  He also enjoyed playing cards, rebuilding and flying his own plane, and was part of the Palmyra Flying Club.

Harold is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen; three children, Scott (Jennifer) Shortenhaus, of Indianapolis, IN, James (Libby) Shortenhaus, of Chicago, IL, and Amy (Jonathan) Gunderson, of Ventura, CA; six grandchildren, Adeleigh, Piper, Britta, Ella, Abigail, and Sage; mother, Gladys, of Albert Lea, MN, two sisters, Priscilla (Bruce) Schoeman, of Wilmar, MN, and Barbara (Steve) McKenney, of Albert Lea, MN; a sister-in-law, Kay Boyer, of Lancaster, PA; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and dear friends.  Harold is preceded in death by his father, Harry and grandparents.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Calvary Community Church, N2620 Harris Road, in Williams Bay. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church. A Private Burial will take place at Floral Lawn Cemetery in South Beloit. Memorials can be directed to Calvary Community Church or the Christian League for the Handicapped.
