He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary, brothers Terry and Bill, mother in law Sharon Campbell and his grandparents.
David's tremendous attitude and care for others allowed him to set examples in his life for others. He took great pride in his accomplishments including guiding others through his profession at Elkhorn High School as a School Counselor. He was awarded the Apple award for his 20 years of exemplary and distinguished service in the Education Community. Dave was an avid outdoorsman since the days of his youth, learning from spending time afield with his family and his loving companion Zoey, his chocolate lab. His passion for the outdoors was another pursuit of his life that he did to the fullest and with great success. He loved hunting with his brothers and friends and the ability to even interject a little competition into the annual hunts. This year he shared his hunting passion with Hannah, most special pal of all, enjoying the beautiful surroundings. He loved sports including his quest to be the best golfer in the group. He loved watching and coaching his daughter as she has tried many sports through summer and school programs.
The outpouring of love, prayers, cards of support from all friends and family was greatly appreciated over the past 18 months throughout David's fight with cancer. It provided the silver lining to the difficult journey. Heartfelt thanks to Elkhorn teacher and student community for the meals and many fundraisers; family and friends that provided advice and a listening ear on the rides to Madison for treatments, and friends that took care of Hannah and Zoey that kept the daily routine running as smooth as possible. A special thanks go out the nurses and doctors of UW Carbone Cancer Center for providing hope with treatments and Mercy Walworth Hospital and Hospice for care and understanding when we needed it the most.
