DELAVAN - Deborah E. Bryant, 69, of Delavan, was called home to the Lord on Friday March 20th, 2020. Born August 7th, 1950 in Racine, WI to Charles and Alice (Kunick) Wallis, Debbie was the 2nd youngest of 8 girls and from what we are told was always a stitch.
Mom always worked, ending her career when she retired from the Grand Geneva some 4 years ago, but it was who she was with her children and grandchildren that defined her. She was loving and without judgement, always there to comfort and offer support no matter the circumstance. She was generous and giving, even if it meant she had to do without. She was funny and without equal when it came to snarky one-liners and quick wit. She was caring, more concerned with how her illness affected others than with what it was doing to her. She was fierce and devout and wonderful. She was everything anyone could ever hope for in a mother and grandmother. She is irreplaceable.
Mom used to say that God never gives you more than you can handle, and she proved her belief in that scripture every day that she fought the cancer that would ultimately claim her life. We take solace in the fact that cancer didn’t walk away unscathed; it was bloody, and battered, and wishing it had picked on someone else. Cancer can’t win if you show up to the fight. Mom showed up everyday and it was only when the tasks put before her by God were finished that she was called home. Our hearts are aching, our faces stained w/ tears, and their now exists a hole in each of us that will never be filled, but through it all we smile because she is with the Lord; happy in heaven and now able to bend God’s ear face to face.
Mom is survived by her children, Jimmy (Jean) Froggatt of Burlington; Tonja (John) Bybee of Norfolk, VA; Sonja (Chad) Harrell of Chaffee, MO; Justin (Nancy) Froggatt of Milwaukee; Nicholas (Emily) Bryant of Lake Geneva, WI; Robert (Susanna) Bryant of Delavan, WI; 14 grandchildren (Amber, Kyle, Brandon, Shelby, Gage, Anthony, Shane, Lauren, Shalah, Nicholas, Reagan, Gabrielle, Matthew, and Hunter), 2 Great-Grandchildren (Johnny and Levi), 5 sisters (Shirly, Bev, Jane, Sharron, Pam, and Pat). Mom was preceded in death by her parents and sister Mickey.
A private service will be held this Saturday, March 28th. Details to follow on larger service for extended family and friends when responsible to do so.
