DELAVAN – Donna G. Hammerstad, 76, passed away on Wednesday July 1, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Whitewater, WI on March 19, 1939 to Harry and Margaret Schumacher. Donna was united in marriage to Bennie Hammerstad on June 8, 1966. Bennie passed away October 21, 2004. Most of her time was spent outside gardening, tending to her feathered friends, fishing, playing cards, embroidering, and spending time with her family.
Donna is survived by six children, Joanne (Ted) Sween, of Darien; Jerry (Terri) Farnsworth, of Darien; Jennie (Rich) Micklevitz, of Lake Geneva, Tina (John) Erickson, of Darien, Ken Hammerstad, of Delavan, and Bonnie Snodie, of Elkhorn; 12 grandchildren, Jared (Jessica) Gregurich, Heather (Shawn) Faris, Kaila Micklevitz, Allison and Zac Hammerstad, Megan Erickson, Benjamin and Nelson Snodie, Ryan (Jamie) Cutts, Jennie (Steve) Kraayveld, William (Sarah) Erickson, and Amanda (Gale) Price; ten great grandchildren, Ruby Gregurich, Evelyn and Easton Faris, Ethan and Kaitlyn Kraayveld, Will and AJ Price, Isaac and Emily Erickson, Owen Cutts; a sister, Joyce Burhans; two brothers, Marvin (Ada) Schumacher, and Robert (Delores) Schumacher; and several nieces and nephews. Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Bennie; her parents; her twin brother, Don; five sisters, Marion, Jeanette, Carol, Beverly, and Dorothy; and her faithful dog, “Peter”.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday July 6, 2015 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Ave. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Darien Cemetery. MONROE FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
