Donna M (Polasik) Folkers, age 77, a long-time resident of Delavan, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn. She was born on July 25th, 1946 to Joseph and Virginia (Fortino) Polasik.
Donna was an artist of all sorts. She began her love of style in Cosmetology school in Los Angeles, after she and her sister Sandy took a road trip to California from Florida. It was at that time that she met Dennis Mohr and they married in San Diego. They later moved to Dennis’ home state of Delaware to reside with their two children.
Donna eventually returned to her home town of Delavan, where she worked as a hairstylist. She loved her high heels, big hoop earrings, and making people look their best. This is where she captured Jerry’s eye. They got married and together they raised their blended family on Folkers’ farm. So many wonderful memories were made at the A-frame oasis and the farmhouse kitchen.
Donna had so many passions. She loved playing her organ especially at Christmas. She also had a love of painting and wood carving. When she had an inspiration, she would work at it for days until it was complete. Her creations were often found displayed in her yard or on her fire place mantel. Donna was so proud of her yard and special hasta gardens. At one point she even dabbled in pond gardens where one year she counted 44 frogs living in her pond. Donna’s talents were endless. She could sew, crochet, and cook amazing meals. She really enjoyed making her own greeting cards with her special signature- love, the Wicked Witch. She was such a character at times. She was an amazing entertainer. Her summer Tiki room was a welcoming place for her neighbors to enjoy a drink and fun conversations. Her amazing talent, spunky personality and feisty nature will be missed by all who loved her.
Donna is survived by her son, Dennis R Mohr (Kris) of Elkhorn; Daughter, Tina Mohr of Lake Geneva; grandchildren, Logan, Konnor, and Braden Mohr; One great-grandchild Brooks Allen Mohr; her sister Sandra Martin of Florida; her niece Theresa Woolcott; grand-niece Brittany; and grand-nephews Carson and Ethan, along with her nephew, Michael Martin. Donna was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Virginia, and her brother Ronald.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
