DELAVAN – Dorothy Sady Downing, age 65, of Delavan passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. She was born in Elkhorn on December 1, 1951 to Eaba and Dorothy Botma. Sady was united in marriage to Gordon Downing on August 25, 1973 at the Delavan Christian Reformed Church. She worked for many years as a legal assistant for Johnson Law Office and then Thorpe & Christian Law Firm. Sady was on the Congdon Park Committee, volunteered at Lakeland Aurora Medical Center, and volunteered for the Reads Program at Wileman School.
Sady is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gordy; two children, Renee (Jeremy) Downing-Lee, of Delavan, and Richard Downing, of Delavan; a sister, Marion (Tim) Scott, of Delavan; a brother, Robert (Gloria) Botma, of Delavan; many nieces and nephews; and special dear friend, Norma Botma.
Sady is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Vivian; and two brothers, John and Richard.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Delavan Christian Reformed Church, 850 Oak Street in Delavan with Rev. Tim Kooiman officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan. Memorials can be directed to Lakeland School.
