Elizabeth "Libby" Joyce Shafer, age 83, of Beloit passed away on Wednesday June 29 2016. She was born June 21,1933 in Darien WI to Fredrick and Esther (Shipman) Starin. She graduated from Darien High School in 1951. She married Ronald Shafer in 1954. They had four children: Ron Jr., Bob, David and Lynn. Libby worked for Culligan Water, Borg Industries and Lakeland Medical Center retiring in 1995. Libby enjoyed traveling, dancing, sewing, playing the piano, drawing house plans, and playing cribbage. Libby was an avid fan of auto racing, the Brewers, the Cubs, and the Green Bay Packers. Libby was a member of the Community Baptist Church in Darien.
She is survived by her children Robert (Wendy) Shafer Delavan, David Shafer Williams Bay, Lynn (Melody Teutla) Shafer Beloit, and her grandchildren Joann (Ryan) Shafer-Boviall Janesville, John Shafer Delavan, and Kyle Shafer Delavan, her nephews Dick Locy, Wayne Locy, Mitchell Shafer, Mathew Shafer, nieces Donna (Raymond) Ruhff and Benita Locy. Libby was preceded in death by her sister Gwen Locy, her twin sister Harriet Starin and her son Ron Jr.
A private family service will be held July 9, 2016 at the Spring Grove Cemetery. Officiating is Pastor Gary Sisk. Memorials can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Twin Oaks Homeless Shelter, and the Vets Roll.
A special thank you for Melody (her 2nd daughter) in assisting of her daily care and to Dr. Leo's nurse Tammy who helped and guided us so many times in the medical field.
