DELAVAN – Eugene R. Atkinson, age 86, of Delavan passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. He was born in Waupaca, WI on June 18, 1928 to Edmond and Elnora (Fosgate) Atkinson. Eugene married Mary Zei on August 13, 1949. His favorite thing to do was go dancing with his wife Mary. He enjoyed building model trains, airplanes, and ships and also enjoyed playing golf.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary; two children, Denise (Michael) Duesterbeck, of Elkhorn, and David (Sigrid) Atkinson, of El Paso, TX; two grandchildren, Sarah and Paul; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Gail (David) Grambsch. Eugene is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Paula.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Monroe Funeral Home. Burial will take place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Delavan at a later date. MONROE FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family. Please visit us at monroefh.com.
