DELAVAN - Gerald (Jerry) A. Jankuski, age 79, of Delavan passed away on a beautiful, spring afternoon on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Geneva Lake Manor in Lake Geneva. He was born on July 11, 1943 in Oak Park, IL to Albert and Yolanda (Buferine) Jankuski.
Jerry was a sweet, loving man with a fun, snarky sense of humor. His playfulness combined with his gentle heart touched the lives of those who knew him. He loved his family and friends deeply and was always there when someone needed him. You could count on Jerry to be there for you in the good and bad times. He was a loving father and grandfather who cherished every moment spending time with his family. He liked to tease everyone with his sarcasm for a good laugh. Jerry will be greatly missed.
Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force Reserves. Throughout his career, he worked as computer programmer within the Chicago area, Pittsburgh and Atlanta. He was a part of the team who reprogrammed computers to prepare for the Y2K. He was an artist who loved photography, painting and drawing. He enjoyed spending time with friends at the American Legion Hall with the occasional shot of whiskey. Jerry enjoyed reading books and was fascinated by historical facts and stories. He also loved the water and spent many hours driving his boat on the lakes and rivers in Illinois.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Jodi Heisz, Delavan, WI: two grandchildren, Hunter Heisz and Calvin Vermett, Delavan WI; sister Becky Riley and her two sons Mike and Jim Riley, Illinois.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; Albert and Yolanda Jankuski; his Aunt Ann Johnson; his longtime girlfriend, Bea Sacks; brother-in-law, Bill Riley.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M- 11:30 A.M. on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Avenue in Delavan. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, https://woundedwarriorproject.org
