Harold L. DeWeerd, age 82 of Delavan,WI, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Harold Lee was born March 6, 1931 in Orange City, Iowa, the son of Tony and Adrianna (Van Peursem) DeWeerd. He attended Orange City Christian School and Northwestern Academy in Orange City. He graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1955 and Calvin Seminary n 1957. He earned his Certificate of Financial Planning in 1989.
On August 26, 1955, he married his wife of almost 58 years, Bernice VanderVeen in Delavan, WI. He is survived by his wife, his two daughters, Sheri of Sacramento, CA, and Lori (Rich) Stearns of Chicago, IL, his sister Phyllis (Wes) DeKock, brother-in-law, Albert VanderVeen, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Barbara and his parents.
Harold wore many hats in his working years, but he would tell you he enjoyed most the years he spent in his own business, DeWeerd Financial Services. He served one term as Delavan Town Chairman and several years on the board of the Walworth County Taxpayers Alliance.
