Ida Mae Wilkinson

DELAVAN – Ida Mae Wilkinson, age 101, of Delavan passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Ridgestone Village in Delavan. She was born in Chemung Township, IL on February 19, 1914 to Robert and Sophia (Baars) Wilkinson. Ida graduated from the Sharon High School in 1931 as Salutatorian of her class. In 1936 at the age of 22, Ida started working for the Jim Slopa Family and continued her career for 35 years. In 1971 Ida retired and became a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Delavan. She was a member of the X-Y-Z Group and served on many of the church committees. Ida also cleaned the kitchen every week for many years. She enjoyed reading books, doing crossword puzzles, and playing cards with friends.

Ida is survived by her nieces, Nancy Jones and Joanne Zwieg; nephews, David Klaman, John Zwieg, and Edward Zwieg; great nephews, Mark, Matthew, and Robert; great nieces, Shelley, Stacey, Kelley, Jackie, Stephanie, Kim, Cassie, Molly, and Samantha; and very dear friend, Alice Slopa. Ida is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lillian, Marie, and Dorothy; and a brother, Robert.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Delavan UCC-Congregational, 123 E. Washington Street, with Rev. Laura McLeod officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service on Friday at the church. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon.
