Fontana/ James M. McGreevy, age 76, of Fontana, Wi., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday December 10, 2010 at Park Ridge Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge Il..He was born November 26, 1934 in Chicago, the son of Thomas and Alice (Marshall) McGreevy. James married Jeanne Coler in Florida in 1964 and she precedes him in death. He was a member of St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Fontana Wi. and a member of the U.S. Army. He was a 1956 graduate of Michigan State University. James was a noteable Chicago restaurateur, owning the famed Melvins, Irvings, The Corner and McGreevy's.
He is survived by his family; Katherine (Debra Gillingham) McGreevy, Dennis (Cathy), McGreevy, Thomas (Jennifer) McGreevy and Molly (Jay) Reader. 4 grandchildren, Alec, Lake, Ella and Ty. He is preceded by his parents, his wife Jeanne and 1 brother Dan.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00am Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Fontana Wi., with Fr. Dan Sanders officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 at the Monroe Funeral Home in Delavan Wi.. Burial will be in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
