DELAVAN – Jean A. (Lenz) Eddy, “G-ma”, “Grandma Jean”, and “Camper Gramma”, lived most of her 68 years in Delavan, but also lived for a short time in Williams Bay. She passed on October 6, 2016 at home, in her favorite room of the house, “The Library Room”. She was born on June 14, 1948 in Beloit, WI to William and Elaine (Joseph) Lenz. Jean was united in marriage to David Eddy on December 6, 1976. She worked for over 38 years as a Deputy County Clerk for Walworth County.

A loving and generous wife, mother, and grandmother, Jean loved to cook, bake, READ, feed her birds and, above all, spend time with her family. In the past, she was also an avid knitter, making specially created afghans for her children and grandchildren, not to mention the dozens of scarves she made to give away.

Jean was fiercely independent, determined, brave and loyal to her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who hated to miss any family event, especially those that involved her grandchildren. She would travel through any kind of weather to fulfill her promise to visit her grandchildren and sometimes travel 11 hours in one day to do so. Her grandchildren remember her for her unconditional support, passion for reading, generosity and cooking/baking skills. Try to find someone who makes better chicken noodle soup or poppy seed bread! She made them feel like they were the most important people on Earth. Jean taught others what it meant to be a devoted mother and grandmother. She touched many lives and will be dearly missed.

Jean is survived by her husband of 40 years, David L. Eddy; her father, William R. Lenz, Sr.; two children, Heather A. (Ray) Alvey, of Savage, MN, and William D. (Megan) Eddy, of Holmen, WI; four grandchildren, William R. Alvey, Anna E. Alvey, Claire S. Eddy, and Matthew G. Eddy; siblings, Joyce (Dennis) Jacobs, of Allens Grove, WI, William Jr. (Judy) Lenz, of Delavan, and Gary (Sandy) Lenz, of Delavan; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jean is preceded in death by her mother, Elaine; an infant brother; and a beloved nephew, Joseph “Joey” Lenz.
