Loyd "Ed" Dial

ROSCOE, IL – Loyd "Ed" Dial, age 87, of Roscoe, IL passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Willowfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Delavan, WI.  He was born on October 15, 1928 to Edgar and Hester (Dalton) Dial. Graduated from Centralia High School, Class of 1946, Southern Illinois University, Class of 1952, and proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Married Nancy (Ely) Dial on March 15, 1952. Lived 45 years in Roscoe, having moved here from Cary. He was a salesman for Swiss Valley, Hawthorne Melody, Sealtest and initially began his career as an Industrial Arts teacher at North Boone High School. His favorite hobby was flying, having an affinity for small aircraft and would take to the skies any chance he could. Ed was a member of the Roscoe United Methodist Church where he secured a strong community of friends; anyone who knew him regarded him as an exceedingly kind, loving, gentle and caring man. He selflessly devoted his adult life to caring for his handicapped son to which he and Nancy considered no more than an absolute blessing. Ed is survived by his daughter Ann (Mike) August, and grandchildren, Eric and Amanda August, all of Roscoe; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, wife Nancy, and son Jeff. A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Roscoe United Methodist Church 10816 Main St, Roscoe, IL 61073 officiated by Pastor Paul Meyers. Final resting place will be in Zion Grove Cemetery, Marion County.
