Jennifer Ann McSorley, 78, of Palmetto, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2024, in Lakewood Ranch, FL. Born in Delavan, WI, Jennifer led a vibrant and multifaceted life, marked by her diverse passions and accomplishments.
A graduate of Delavan-Darien High School, Class of 1963, Jennifer forged her own path in life. She was a talented hairdresser, worked in real estate, and was Illinois' first female paramedic. She furthered her education, attending Elgin Community College then finishing her degree in computer science from Northern Illinois University, which led to a career in leading software installations at hospitals across the country. She also participated as a mentor later at Elgin Community College.
Jennifer's love for adventure was evident in her collection of cars, including Corvettes, BMWs, Porsches and Fiat Spyders. She cherished living on the lake and became an accomplished water skier. Her passion for boating spanned many years, and she was an active member of the boating community on the Chesapeake Bay and Annapolis, MD
As a prolific artist, Jennifer primarily worked with watercolors, creating beautiful, unique pieces that reflected her creative spirit.
Jennifer is survived by her loving husband, Kevin McLaughlin; her children, Jason Dufair (Tammy) of Himrod, NY, Marcie (Daniel) Carpentier of Yorkville, IL, Jordan (Kimberly) Dunne of Palatine, IL, and Erin (Eduardo) Cajina of Yorkville, IL. She’s also survived by 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was deeply devoted to her grandchildren and truly beloved by her family.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 East Walworth Avenue in Delavan. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
